The term Art-Deco was first used in the late 1960’s to describe a much earlier exhibition
entitled ‘Les Anees 25’ held at the Musee Des Arts-Decoratifs in Paris.
Art-Deco unifies the years between 1909 and 1939 when architecture, textiles and
especially clothes were to become far more stylized, throughout the whole of Europe
following the trend setting Fashion Houses in Paris.
(The best Art Deco fashion illustrators frequently used art stencils to colour their
designs).
